     These are the lakes and dates: QUALIFIERS #1 April 18 7am to 1pm at Cedar Valley Lake (Garnet Ks), #2 July 17 11am to 5 pm at Hillsdale Reservoir, #3 July 18 7am to 1pm at Hillsdale Reservoir. CHAMPIONSHIP August 22 7am to 1pm at Melvern Reservoir (OFFLIMITS August 16-20).
There will be two ways to qualify for the 2010 Championship tournament.
A. The winning angler in each age category, at each Qualifier tournament, gets an automatic berth to the Championship tournament. Win and you're in.
B. There will also be a points system used.
1st 100 points
2nd 95 points
3rd 91 points
4th 88 points
5th 86 points
6, 7, 8, etc. 85, 84, 83, etc.
The top five anglers, in each age group, in points after the third Qualifier tournament will go to the Championship tournament. Each angler will have one throw out tournament. Since the winner received an automatic berth to the Championship tournament, the points system will begin with the second place angler (1st place points will go to the second place angler etc.).

My goal was to reward not only winners, but also the more consistent anglers. Using this system we will have eight anglers from each age group in the Championship tournament. In the event an entire age group "blanks" at a tournament, or an angler cannot attend the Championship, we will use the points system to round out the field of eight at the Championship.

Thanks;

The Lake is listed on the KDWP website as: Garnett Cedar Valley Reservoir - 350 acres, 6 miles S, 2 miles W of Garnett. On their website is a nice Google map showing how to get to the lake. Basically you go west on W 7th ave, then follow the blacktop road S, then W, then S, then W, and you will ultimately be on NW 1600 road. It is on NW 1600 road that you will see the “first” lake sign that you should go past about a mile to the “second” lake sign. Go S to the T and then E to the lake. Garnett is a town of about 3000, has Pizza Hut, Sonic, Dairy Queen, Chinese, Mexican, and a couple of diner-type restaurants. There is a Grocery store but no Walmart. There are two motels in Garnett. The Economy Inn has been there for years and is on 59 highway, the 'main drag' of town. The Garnett Inn Suites was built new just a few years ago and is on 169 highway, on the "out-skirts' of town. Both are roughly the same distance from the lake. I've never stayed at either one. When going to the lake from Garnett, there are two lake signs. Don't take the first cause it takes you to the dam where there is no boat access. A mile or so past the first sign is the second lake sign that takes you to the main entrance/ramps/docks etc. The lake has three ramps, we will use the two that are by the main entrance. There are boat docks at each ramp, one of the two we will use has 5 or 6 boat slips, none are covered. There is no fee for fishing, I don't know if there is for camping. The lake is about 10-15 years old, about 350 acres, long, kind of winds around, bluffs, chunk rock, a few coves, a couple of mud flats, only standing timber is in the extreme upper end, the extreme upper end gets pretty shallow, but is fishable, if the lake is at pool the creek itself is fishable for a long ways.. Our adult club fished there on the third Sunday of April of 2008. We have a three fish limit and it took over 14 pounds to win! All but maybe two guys had at least a 3 pound average! Of course on a day like that I couldn't be there!!!!!!! Hope all this helps. Thanks, Brad V. ECONOMY INN 604 N. Maple Street (Hwy 59 N.)
